The STREET ARTS: A Celebration of Hip Hop Culture & Free Expression project that’s currently in full swing here in ABQ features many world-renowned artists (including lots of local ones!). This astounding roster of events has been made possible by the collaborative power of over 25 arts and other organizations throughout the city. This effort has been organized by the talented, intrepid staff and board at 516 ARTS led by a gifted artist/executive director with a very big vision, Suzanne Sbarge.

STREET ARTS has unfolded in a very grass-roots way (read: shoestring budget) and has been made possible by a combination of small grants, contributions from individuals and an unprecedented amount of support from local businesses who donated a wide range of services and supplies.

It’s come time for STREET ARTS to call on local community support from its growing audience to keep the momentum going. The STREET ARTS preview party and fundraiser held on September 16 raised over $4,000, which was absolutely terrific. The goal now is to match that amount and exceed it so that $10,000 total is raised to cover some of the nuts and bolts of putting together such a huge offering of events throughout the city.

516 ARTS is working with ArtSpark to help raise funds for STREET ARTS via online social media channels (blogs, Twitter, Facebook, etc.), including micro-funding or crowd-funding (meaning a small dollar amount across many people really adds up!).

516 ARTS has some very cool offers for different donation levels starting at only $10…
